Question Answer
Do you do tours for children at the Agricultural Museum? Yes, our school program is on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Each grade has a different curriculum and students learn about livestock, ag history, planting crops, and how agriculture affects their lives.. Schoolteachers must make a reservation in advance for their class to visit the park by calling (941) 721-2034. We fill up very quickly so teachers are urged to make their reservation early in the school year.
Will there be someone to give me a tour of the Agricultural Museum? The museum is self guided with staff available to answer questions. Groups are asked to call and make arrangements for a guided tour in advance.
What is there to see at the Agricultural Museum? Explore the county’s primary commodities including Livestock, Vegetables, Citrus, Horticulture, and Commercial Fishing. The kids can enjoy our hands on Junior Ag Spots scattered throughout the facility. We have a barn which is home to large pieces of equipment and a farm shop/garage where a restored 1925 Model-T pickup is on display. The Education Room is used for those who wish to view a variety of films on the agricultural history of Manatee County as well as a selection of fun educational films for children.
What are the operating hours of the Agricultural Museum? We are open from10:00am to 12:00 noon and from 1:00pm to 4:00pm Tuesday thru Friday and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.
Is there a fee to enter the Museum? There is no fee to visit the museum. You can make a donation if you like.
Where is the Agricultural Museum located? The Agricultural Museum is located at 1015 6th Street West, Palmetto. This is on 6th Street between 10th and 11th Ave West in the Palmetto Historical Park. There is parking behind the buildings.
