2006 Teen Court Volunteer Appreciation Reception

On September 28, 2006, the staff of Teen Court/Teen Court Too held a Volunteer Appreciation Reception at the Manatee Village Historical Park to celebrate our wonderful volunteers, both teen and adult, who so willingly give of their time to make our program a success.

National Youth Court Month
September 19, 2006 is "Bring-A-Friend-to-Court" Night.
Teen Court & Teen Court Too Volunteers brought 23 friends to court to learn about the program.

for our local Runaway Shelter.

Teen Court/Teen Court Too Training Session

At these volunteer training sessions, middle and high school students who are interested in the law, spend the morning with local attorney, Charlie Sniffen, and Teen Court staff learning about courtroom strategy, prosecuting and defending a person charged with a crime and courtroom etiquette. The children also get the chance to participate in mock trials to practice their skills.
All 44 children at this public training event are volunteers.

At these volunteer training sessions, middle and high school students who are interested in the law, spend the morning with local attorney, Charlie Sniffen, and Teen Court staff learning about courtroom strategy, prosecuting and defending a person charged with a crime and courtroom etiquette. The children also get the chance to participate in mock trials to practice their skills.
All 39 children at this public training event are volunteers.

Induction into the Teen Court Hall of Fame

Teen Court held its first induction into its Hall of Fame on Tuesday, July 26, 2005. Six teen volunteers received this honor. They are David Villarroel, Liz Iwanczuk, Paul Karasick, Rebecca Hare, Jessica Rogers and Jonathan Mizner. Together these six volunteers have donated over 1, 513 hours since 2001. Celebrating 13 Years of Exceptional Community Service in Manatee County!

September is National Youth Court Month and Manatee County's Teen Court/Teen Court Too programs are celebrating with a variety of month-long events. Tuesday, September 7th, there were refreshments for all adult and youth volunteers. Check back each week for more to come!

National Youth Service Day

April 17, 2004

On Saturday, April 17th, about twenty Teen Court and Teen Court Too volunteers delivered "Sunshine for Seniors" care packages to the 110 residents of the Riverfront Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The teens volunteered their time to participate in National Youth Service Day. Manatee County's Teen Court programs received a $250 grant from the National Youth Court Center to give back to their community and the teens chose to do their service by spending time with some senior members in our community. In the pictures are volunteers, Josh Gill, Ricky Marsceill, Kevin Blacketer, Francisco Sanchez, Brandon Sauer, Willie Brown, Eric Distelhurst, Josh Meadows, Mary Calderone, Yajaira Jimenez, Mariela Gutierrez, Myra Jimenez, Frank Lagana and Alisia Lawson.

Preparing for National Youth Service Day

April 10, 2004

On Saturday, April 10, fifteen Teen Court and Teen Court Too volunteers assembled in the Teen Court office to prepare for National Youth Service Day, which is held April 16-18 throughout the United States. Manatee County's Teen Court programs were awarded a $250 grant from National Youth Court Center for their idea to spread "Sunshine for Seniors." On Saturday, April 17, these volunteers will deliver goodie bags of sunshine (a pin, toiletries and candy) and spend time talking with the 110 residents of the Riverfront Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Volunteers in attendance on April 10th to assemble the goodie bags were: Ricky Marsceill, Heather Taylor, Kevin Blacketer, Chris Lamadue, Josh Gill, Frank Laguna, Erin Kelly, Lindsay Lewis, Alisia Lawson, Mary Calderone, Steven Grantham, Mariele Gutierrez, Yajaira Jiminez, Myra Jimenez and Eric Distelhurst.
