Q
uestion:

My driver's license was suspended several years ago, due to a DUI. This is long overdue, but I am ready to do what I have to do to get my license back. I have taken care of everything except showing proof that I took the DUI class, which I took back when I first lost my license. Would the Clerk's office have a record of my taking the class?

Answer:

If the defendant filed the certificate of completion with the Clerk and the disposition of the case was within the past 5 years, a copy may be obtained from the Clerk. There will be a charge of $1.00 per page.
If the case was disposed more than 5 years ago, the file will no longer be available, due to records retention rules. The defendant may want to contact the DUI school to see if their records are kept for that length of time. If not, the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles may require the defendant to take the class again.
