Q
uestion:

I have lived in the area for a little over a year. I need a Declaration of Domicile in order to apply for my Homestead Exemption. How do I go about getting one?

Answer:

Declaration of Domicile is a sworn statement which states that you reside in and maintain a place of abode in Manatee County. It also states that you intend to maintain this county as your permanent residence.
You will need to bring:

1. A valid form of identification such as a driver's license or a Florida issued identification card. An out-of-state driver's license is acceptable.

2. Your previous address and your present address.

Forms are available in the Clerk's office for Declaration of Domicile.
