The Palmetto Historical Commission, Inc. offers fun
and interactive school tours for children grades K-5
on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:30 a.m.
until 1:00 p.m. Younger students will experience a day
in the life of Florida's pioneers. They will attend
class in a one-room schoolhouse, receive mail from an
1880's post office, and experience home life in a turn-of-the-century
cottage. Older students will discover history's mysteries
by traveling back in time to become an investigative
reporter covering an event in Palmetto's history, they
will then return to the present, and become historians
studying Palmetto's past. Finally, they will travel
500 years in the future to become archeologists studying
the lost city of Palmetto. So hurry and make your plans
today to visit the Palmetto Historical Park, and experience
a whole other time! And while your scheduling your appointment,
don't forget to visit the Manatee
County Agricultural Museum, located within the beautiful
Palmetto Historical Park.
*All programs correspond with Florida's Sunshine State
